Is Netflix worth it?

I dunno, is it worth it to you? How many times do you rent movies per month? Is that amount more than what you'd pay for a netflix account?

For me it is. I watch movies constantly.

thanks, i had a moment of weakness when i saw the comercial. then i realized im not that lazy and can go to the store hehe

Sure, but that costs you fees for each movie rented, plus gas, plus time. With netflix, you pay a flat fee per month, doesn't cost you gas or time to get the movies.

1) Get a large HDD
2) Sign up for their top program for a month
3) Rip to HDD like mad (~16 /week)
4) Watch slowly later 😀

flat rates are nice, although sometimes i dont watch movies for weeks at a time

Well think about this.

No cable = ~$80 savings
No more rentals at a brick and mortar store each month = ~$13 a month savings
Add in the fact that they are going to be showing more commercials on cable that a dvr can't control
No commercials=More time

So ~70-100bucks savings for each month for your TV and movie fix

Take that and queue up a bunch of movies and TV series on your Netflix account
Spend $30bucks a month for 5 at a time and you cut all the sh1t out of satellite and cable tv

Why not try it for one free month and decide for yourself. Search chubby wallet for the netflix free month coupon.

if you do this, then nice job on forcing netflix to throttle.

I think it was worthy.
The flat monthly fee was much less than the regular BB rental for the equal number of movies. Plus the total turnaround time was only 3 days.
You should definitely check out the free trial.

i do this.

I've beenu using NetFlix for a couple of months, and it was great at the start, and could do 2 turn-arounds per week...then, Netflix started throttling me so that one turn-around per week is all I can do, so it's not as good of a deal as it was for me, but it DOES save me the cost and hassle of going to the closest Hollywood video store. (I have a blockbuster much closer, but don't use them Just don't like anything about Blockbuster...so..the big savings for me is in the cost of traveling to the store to rent/return movies.
I've been thinking about trying a couple of the other rental places that are SUPPOSED to be better about the throttling BS:

Netflix is great. And it's easy to find the movies you want too. Just search for em. At the B&M blockbusters they are so horribly arranged around here it's crazy.

yeah i hate going in there, there is always that creepy worker who keeps asking me if i need help after telling him im ok at least 10 times

I used to subscribe to the Netflix $11.99 per month plan.
I loved their selection of older titles. I mainly subscribed because my local rental stores tend not to carry older movies.

I stopped my subscription because I wasn't watching movies fast enough to justify the cost. Being married, it was hard to get in sync to watch videos.

Can anyone suggest good "download" services (non-warez), that have older titles? 😀

netflix and blockbuster are both worth it depending on how many movies you rent. I like the convienience, but I like to copy them (illegal?) then return them and watch them later.

blockbuster is better for new movies cuz you get in store rentals too.

netflix has more selection and is faster (based on your location)

i first got it because the woman liked watching movies together alot, and blockbuster had a lousy selection, got too costly, and i hated spending time in the place.

netflix solved all those problems, ive enjoyed it for a couple of years now
