Is my XP-90 going to be enough?

I just ordered my 4400 89W. But I was just wondering...is my XP-90 going to be able to adequately cool this puppy down?

PS: I plan to OC it.

Your XP-90 will hand the task easily. I would recommend a fan that has a little more "oomph" then a silent fan.

This is not the copper one either.

Edit: I've got another question. I have 4 sticks of 512. Is that going to hurt my OCing potential?

All of my X2's run from 2.3-2.5 ghz, and all are OC'ed. Temps runs (full load both cores 24/7) from 43-56c.

Mine 2....That being said aren't the 89w chips better then most of the X2 chips??? My XP-90's have had my chips in the past as high as 2.66ghz with low 50's load....

They are effective at removing heat away from the core...just couple it with a good fan....you can even get a converter to put a much higher 120mm fan on it. The XP-120 is available but doesn't fit on most mobos...

from what i've read, the XP-90 is roughly equal in performance to AMD's stock 4-heatpipe cooler (that comes with newer FX and high-end X2 processors). I have one of those heatsinks on my 4400+ 89W and I can hit 2.75ghz at 1.37V with load temps of about 55C (61C on core temp). I am pretty sure I could go a bit higher 2.8 or maybe even 2.9 with a more powerful heatsink, but I didn't want to go much above 60C (even though the chip is rated up to 71C). In any event, your XP-90 should be sufficient for a pretty serious OC, but if you had dreams of hitting 3ghz, you probably do want to get a better heatsink...

My goal is to get at least 2.6Ghz out of it. I hope my Epox is up to the job.

I am running my Opteron 165 at 2.8Ghz with a regular XP-90 and it doesn't break 50C under full load with Orthos. It ought to be plenty unless you are pushing extreme voltage through the chip.

I have the copper version with a Panaflo @1600 rpm on top. I've clocked as high a 2860 MHz on my FX-55 and barely broke 50c with CPU Burn. It's no reason it shouldn't keep an overclocked 4400+ cool.
