Is my WLAN nic dying?

USB nic, nothing special... just a realtek based one. Pings from system to router are ~66ms, sporadic packet loss.

By contrast, PCIe nic in my main desktop which is pretty much the same distance from the other machine +1 floor up gets 3ms pings with no packet loss.

Time for a new nic?

Most USB Wireless Clients S*x big time to begin with.

Why? No real Antenna (usually just a piece of wire embeded in the plastic).

No heat dissipation in the little plastic containers, thus the reduce the output when it is getting too hot to avoid "Burning".

Never really had problems with it until recently.

I should clarify, pings are 66ms through 1500ms. Average around 750ms... assuming there's no packetloss at all.
