Is my Videocard or Hardrive the problem?

Hi everyone,

I've noticed that when I play games like battlefield badcompany 2, GTA IV, or assassins creed, theres a second delay for textures to load up. For instance, when I'm running in bad company or driving the car, I see a delay in textures in the environment to load up. Do you think its my video card or hard drive? I have a black edition XFX 6870 and a low powered 5900 rpm 1GB hard drive. Do you think an SSD would solve my problem?

How much RAM do you have?

More llikely your hd than your video card but you need to provide more detail.

Do you have a different hard drive to install one of those games on, and see if it solves the issue? After that, do you have a different graphics card you could test, e.g. borrow one from a friend?

Unfortunately I don't have another hard drive I can try but I have been thinking about getting an SSD. I have 4GB of Corsair Vengeance RAM also. I might upgrade this to 8 soon as well. I have a feeling its my hard drive since its only spinning at 5900 rpm. Most games run pretty smooth too.

In bad company 2, 4 gbs should be enough unless you have a bunch of stuff open in the background. Have you updated your video card drivers?
