Is my videocard a bottleneck?

I recently upgraded my computer except for the videocard, Right now I have a Geforce 4 Ti4200 128mb (AGP 4x)

My current brief specs are..

AMD64 3200+ s939 Venice (@2.4ghz)
MSI k8n Neo-2f (Nforce3)
1 GB Dual Channel Corsair

bottleneck depends on what graphical settings you want to use, but with a 3200 you can drive a lot more than that. I'm not sure about your motherboard, but you would see a big difference with new AGP card.

yes it is a bottleneck unless you like 800x600 medium.
hoy much do you have to spend for a new card?

You'd most likely see a huge performance increase if you switch to a 6600GT class or faster graphics card.

I'd like to spend atleast 200-250 on a AGP 8x


I have been told that a BFG Nvidia Geforce 6800GS 256MB would suite my needs perfect?

What's your budget for video card? I'll go with 6800gs or wait for 7300. I think It'll work fine on 1280x1024 Resolution, all max settings with no AA/AF.

Go ahead get BFG 6800gs and I'm sure it'll meet what you need. ;-]

Especially the APG 6800GS, since it's a bit slower than it's PCIE counterpart.

On the other hand the x850 doesn't even have SM3.0.. but it's still a powerful card.
