is my video card or monitor dying?

hi all...

video card is a diamond Viper v550 (TNT) card about 2.5years old, nvidia 5.32 drivers
monitor is a veiwsonic P775 about 2.5 years old.
win2k pro (video card and monitor are both recognised)



i turned on the monitor today and notice that text seemed as if it is a little smudged from left to right of the screen...(the text is clear, but seems to have a shadow).

i tired changing reslotions/refresh rates /colur depth etc and nothing seems to change..

if i bring on the monitor's biult in controls, the text with them seems very clear...

unfortunately i do not have another video card or a monitor here to test it with... 🙁

any advice is greatly appricated...
 
do you have a friend who could live without their video card for a few minutes while you test it out?
 
i will have to pop over to my parents place and borrow an old pci video card from my brother's 2nd computer to test it, but not sure when i will be able to pop over... hopefully sunday evening... 🙂
