I was putting together a computer for my living room, and it looks like the video card I had set aside for it is broken. It's an old pci elsa victory erazor. It's a riva 128 card, but it has tv out and such, so I was going to use it to output to the tv. The problem is that I can't get it to work with the drivers installed. The card posts and works with the standard vga driver in win98se, but once I install the driver and reboot, the screen shows up looking fine, but after about 5 seconds, the display stretches out, and the screen is a mess. The system seems to be running fine, I can shut it down by pressing the windows key and choosing shut down (not visually, with the arrow keys and by memory), but the display is a mess. Has anyone seen this before. Is there any way to fix it?

The system is :
P3v4x motherboard
elsa victory erazor
PIII 800eb
sb live
wd hard disk

Any help will be greatly appreciated. TIA

this might sound stupid, but if you have an extra monitor, i'd hook it up and see if you still have the problem
i have a voodoo 3 2000 pci that replaced a riva 128 (that riva was rock solid baby!) agp...
anyway the gl setup i have installed to play quake makes 640x480 look crazy (had run it fine previously for years). figured out that the monitor just didn't like it and bumped it to 800x600
two more things to ask...
have you disabled the standard vga adapter (i knowthat's a stupid question nm)
and i heard enabling or disabling v-sync can do things as well
good luck! and i hope i haven't given you bad advice (i'm still learning)
