Is my system running too hot?

I have an A64 3000+ Winny running at 2.3GHz(256x9) at +0.1V and it is stable, ran Prime95 for over 8 hours, no problems. I have a XP-90 with a good 80mm fan (broke the 92mm retension rod, so stuck with an 80mm fan). At load, my temps max at 50* and at minimal load they are usually around 44*. Is this acceptable heat?

It's acceptable. If its stable you shouldnt worry to much about temps.
Could be better though depending on your room temps. Seems a bit high for an xp90 and a moderate oc.
How many casefans do you have?

i have a winny at 1.6v, running 2.55Ghz, and my max load is 52c and idle is 40/41C, admittedly i have a 92mm panaflo pushing about 47 CFM,

as you are running at 1.5v, with an xp90 i would have thought it would be a bit cooler, however, i wouldn?t worry to much about the temps in you situation, as you will not burn it running at those temps.

if you want it to run cooler then possibly purchase a higher volume CFM 80mm fan 😉

I have a good CFM 80mm fan, but it isn't a super high volumn one either. I have an Antec P160 with two 120mm case fans. My case is usually around 30*-34*, which is acceptable.

Might it work differerntly if I turn the fan to point up rather than blow down onto the heatsink?

Also, what are some higher CFM 80mm fans that have an acceptable noise level?

My Winnie at 2.55GHz runs at about 51c load and idles at about 42c. And that's in this absolutely ridiculous heat here in Arizona 😉 .

Anyways, your temps are fine, IMO.

Casetemp seems fine. My loadtemp with stock cooling and 35c casetemp is 48c at 2560 MHz. If you think your fan is fine, first try reseating the heatsink and reapplying thermal paste.

I remember reading a review somewhere about the xp120 where they tried the fan blowing up and temp were 1c higher, so that probably wont help you.
