Is my system in Standby Mode?

I just setup my new system and I let it run overnight.
When I checked it this morning, the system seemed to be turned off
and the power LED on the front panel was blinking on and off (1 sec. intervals).
Nothing I did would turn the system back on. I tried pressing keys (thinking it was in stand by mode). I tried pressing reset. And even pressing the power button didn't have any effect. I had to UNPLUG the power and then I could reset the system and it came up fine.

This is too WEIRD.. anybody have any ideas as to what is going on?

My setup:
Asus A7V MB
Duron 600 CPU (oc to 978Mhz=102*9.5 @ 1.85v)
GF2 GTS

The system is running kind of hot (50C CPU and 29C MB) - could this have caused it to shut off?

yeah thats defenit a big cause and is probably the culprit, try underclocking some and burn it for another night and see what happesns.

good luck

yea it sounds like you froze while you were in suspend.. Just another quick note, if you cant get the PC to turn off you dont have to unplug it. Just hold in the power button on the front for about 5-10 seconds and it will shut down. (this is because of ATX, the newer cases and ATX power supplies dont use a hard on/off switch usually, it can be software driven, case in point you tell windows to shut down and the pc turns off)

I have NEVER EVER seen a computer that could sleep properly. They always lock up and won't return. Disable it and just tell the hard disks and monitor to shut off.

I agree with spamboy. I have had lots of problems especially with Hard Drives going into suspend mode and never waking up. Just set the hard disk suspend to never. This option is found on the screen saver tab in display properties.
