Is my shuttle ruined???

Ok so I took the HSF off my shuttle to reapply the thermal paste with AS5. When I took it off, some of the thermal paste that was on the CPU got onto the motherboard of my shuttle. The thermal paste is this white gooey stuff. It got onto some leads on the mainboard right next to the CPU.

Questions:

Is this stuff conductive?

Would this cause my motherboard to malfunction?

If so, what would be the best way to remove it?

Thanks guys.

The white stuff is non conductive, so it should be too much of a problem. Pick as much of it off as you can, then use rubbing alcohol to get the rest.

What he said. Be sure not to knock off one of those tiny little capacitors or anything while cleaning it off; but the thermal paste should be totally harmless.

However, AS5 is slightly conductive, although if you are even reasonably careful, you will have no problems. I?ve used AS5 on lots of heat sinks and I?ve never had an issue.

big problemo. AS5 is conductive. it has silver which is very conductive. i think what EatSpam said might work. try rubbing it off with an ear stick cleaner and then use some rubbing alcohol. i am not to optimistic about your computer, but if you do a through job, it should be alright.

If someone were to get AS5 where it shouldn't be, its not a problem unless power is applied. So, if you clean it off before turning on your PC, everything is good!
