is my router too old...need suggestion on new

Router is up and running.

Signal strength is great. Complete coverage of whole house and basement, even covers half my garage.

updated the stock firmware and no other changes.

Speeds are all over the place at the moment but I'll give it a week before I make my judgements. But I can say wireless ac on 5ghz I can get 100mb/s on my note 4 and 80 mbs on a iphone+.

I might need to get some wireless ac receivers now or some better N.
