Is my router dying?

I have a Siemens Speedstream 2602 router and a generic 16-port switch. Earlier today, the switch was turned off for the first time in about 6 months. Since turning it back on, my internet connection keeps dropping.

I can still browse my local network and log into the router through its HTTP interface (it says the connection is up and working), but I can't, for example, bring up yahoo.com. Power-cycling the router always seems to fix this problem (after 30 seconds or so). Is my router going bad somehow? I've been using it for over a year, it's always worked great.

This afternoon, my connection dropped twice (about 10 minutes apart), then it worked for like 6 hours, then suddenly it dropped again about 10 minutes ago.

Any ideas? Is it definitely a problem with the router or could the modem be to blame? Or something else entirely? Thanks

how hot does the router feel?

this same thing happened to me with my WAP last summer, and it turned out to be because the router was overheating. I gave it a few hours to cool off, setup a fan in the room to help with air circulation, and I haven't had a problem with it since.

Check with your ISP to make sure you're not under a DOS attack. From what your describing, it sounds like one. If it's the router they're fairly cheap now and they offer improved firewalls.
