Hi

i have been having trouble with a 290x which i just purchased everytime i install the amd drivers for it my pc black screens just after the windows logo there is no sound and my keyboard and mouse light are not on and i have tried hdmi and dvi and they produce the same result i have gone into safe mode and uninstalled the drivers with display driver uninstaller and the system works fine (kind of) windows seems to only detect my card as a standard vga graphics adapter therefore what i can do is pretty limited.

It might be a driver issue. Try another (older) driver version (preferably non-beta).

That is a known issue. Try booting into safe mode and install the latest beta driver. It worked for me.

What was the card before, did you uninstall those drivers?
It could also be corrupted windows files, so a clean install of the OS may help.

Welcome to the forum :)

Win7 requires updated .net still I believe.

There is a link on AMD's driver page. Use the update then hit windows update till no other .net updates are available. Then install drivers.

Of course your card could also be defective or windows can be corrupted cuasing your issue.

Another thing to try - use driver version 13.12.

I actually had the exact same problem with my Nvidia card, where the screen would go black after the Windows logo and USB devices would shut off. A motherboard BIOS update fixed it for me, but apparently it didn't for the OP. Clearly a driver conflict, since it booted fine until the Windows logo, which is why I suggest an older driver might help.

my other card is a 6990 which uses the same catalyst drivers as the r9 sereis anyway but yes i have tried uninstalling drivers sadly that wasnt the solution
i have also tried pretty much every driver that the r9 is supported in i think the only thing i can do now is try a fresh OS install and if that dosnt work get it replaced.

If the other still works I'd RMA the thing, just out of caution from the sound of it.
