Is my PSU powerful enough?

I ordered all the parts for my system, here is going to be the end result:

Dual Opteron 250's
2 GB ECC
2 hard drives (7,200 and 10,000 rpm)
BFG 6800 Ultra OC
RT.X100 video editing card

And my case has 7 120mm and 4 80mm fans, 2 cold cathodes, 2 liquid neon lights, and 2 fan controllers.

Is the 500w PSU I have good enough?

I'd recommend any quality PSU at around 500watts with dual rails. On a side note though, holy crap that's alot of fans, are they all low speed?

Dump that PSU. I would never trust Aspire PSUs in a system like that.

I gotta go with CraigRT suggested. PCP&C is the best.

Which motherboard are you getting? Alot of dual motherboards won't work with a standard ATX power supply unless you get something called a 24-20 Pin adapter (or 20-24 pin, I forget which). The best solution is to get an EPS power supply, which is specifically made for dually boards, like this:

PC Power and Cooling 510w EPS dually PSU

Yep, I had that board for about 3 mos. w 2x246's, and a Fortron 550w EPS PSU. If I had had the extra funds, I would have sprung for the PC Power and Cooling unit I linked above.

TBH, the Master2-FAR may be one of the few dual motherboards that can use an ATX PSU, but I honestly don't know. I just got an EPS power supply to save myself the hassle. You can probably find the answer (or post the question at the end of the thread) in the "official" Master2 FAR thread. That would the place I would recommend asking your questions.

Yep, thats the one. Well I already ordered that powerpc and cooling one I posted earlier today, and it would be a real bitch to cancel. So I checked out the site on MSI to see what it said, it says:

Onboard Connector
? Power connectors (24+8 SSI)
? Front panel connector
? Four 3-pin cooling fan locking header(2 for system & 2 for CPUs)
? 3-pin Clear CMOS header with a jumper
? Stacked Mouse and keyboard ports
? USB header (Front), Stacked 2 USB (Rear)
? RJ-45 with LEDs
? Stacked 2 serial and 1 parallel ports

So given that, what adapter do I need?

Looks like you got your answer already at 2Cpu. Glad to know the PSU you ordered will work just fine. :)

Well I have all the parts, just not the PSU. Think it would be safe if I left the fans unplugged and the gpu out and just used the power supply to configure the mobo and set everything up?

I would ask you to post your experience with teh PSU when it arrives, in particular, how loud it is. But seeing how many fans you have in your system description... nevermind :p

yeah that'd be fine if you can connect it, but i think you will need to leave the gpu in to configure the mb settings unless you just want to try it blind and use the force or something to tell you what to do. Like Luke Skywalker turns computer nerd.

I feel quite retarded now that I see my mobo doesnt have onboard video. Well I know the BFG 6800 Ultra OC needs a lot of juice. Think I'd be safe if I put it in just to configure everything?
