I just bought a new Raidmax Volcano 630w PSU for my new rig:
C2D6400
Geforce 7900gs PCIe
2 - 150GB Raptors
etc
After installing all components I plugged in the powercord into the PSU and powered it on using the switch on the back of the machine. Immediately, there is a high pitched whining sound coming from the PSU and all the fans in my box begin to spin. The LED lights inside the PSU keeps flickring, after about 30-40secs the fans in the machine slowly stop and the LED in the PSU goes off. The high pitched noise is still there. I tried powering put the system using the power button and nothing happens. So I turned off the PSU and tried again, this time I noticed that the power on LED on the mobo and error code on the mobo flashes with the LED, and everything happens the same as before. I uplugged all the cables from mobo, video cards. and fans to the PSU and tried just powering on the PSU by itself and the exact thing happens. Any idea what's going on here and if it's just a defective PSU? I'm going to goto Frys tomorrow and pick up another PSU and hopefully everything will power on just fine. *fingers crossed*
