Is my PSU big enough? Nvidia 680i SLI, Q6600, and 2 harddrives

I just bought a new EVGA 680i A1 SLI mobo for my Q6600. I was running a Gigabyte P35 and I could reach 3.4 stable. But the EVGA board I can only get to 3.0GHZ stable. Also the EVGA board has a 8pin 12v connector instead of a 4pin. My system specs are below.

EVGA 680i SLI A1
Q6600 B3 @3.0
4GIG of Corsair XMS PC-6400
EVGA 8800GT 512MB
WD Raptor 74GIG
Seagate 320GIG
Fan Controller
DVD Burner

I am getting these readings from CPUID Hardware monitor

+12v=12.27
AVCC=3.20
+3.3V=3.20
VIN1=1.28
+5v= 4.61
VIN3=1.85

Do you think a bigger PSU would yield a better overclock. LMK Thanks Michael

It is known that the 680 didn't do well with the quads. That said I doubt that you'll see any difference. But I?m curious, why have you bought a 680 right now ? The 680 has long now been discontinued and support for it has gone down the drain. The 790 is already out there and it is much much better. If DDR3 was an issue there?s still the 780 which is not exactly a new chipset (680+PCI-E 2.0 bridge chip) but it?s still better than the old 680.

I was wondering the same... that's kind of a downgrade from what you had.

That said, I think your power supply is fine for your system.

I am just testing the waters with Nvidia chipsets I have always used Intel. I actually got the 680i LT SLI locally for $50 and I did a internet trick:D and flashed the bios to the P32 680i SLI board full version. And I got the board stable at 3.33 last night. And my 3dmark score on my 8800GT went up from 14,500(P35) to 14,768(680i). So I am happy with the 680i and will upgrade to 780i after I see how SLI works with my 680i.

LMK what everyone else thinks about the 780i. LMK

I believe that you've picked the wrong time to switch sides. Intel chipsets have fewer bugs and the latest cards from ATI rock. nVidia chipsets are doing well with graphics and mem bandwidth but setting the BIOS is a PITA and their HD controller is sub-par compared to that of Intel chipsets.
(Somebody correct me if I'm wrong here)

As I've already mentioned the 780 is not exactly a new chipset. It's just the 680 + a PCI-E 2.0 bridge chip. Since the 680 failed to provide adequate support for the new Intel 45nm procs nV came up with the ?780? in order to fill the gap until the arrival of the 790. The 790 features native support for the said procs and now that it's out expect the 780 to die along with the 680. That said I would not consider a move from the 680 to the 780 an upgrade. If you really want to upgrade to the next nVidia chipset you should go for the 790.
