I was working on my computer and smelled something bad. You know like when an old tv blows and that sick smell fills the room. Like that. I think its from my powersupply but not positive. I only had a smell nothing else yet. This powersupply is generic but less than a year old. Even with the smell using motherboard monitor fast it looked the voltages were still okay.

Is it time for a new powersupply? or should I try to use this one more and hope nothing goes wrong?

If you are lucky, then nothing else has popped.

Get rid of the psu before it does something nasty to your mobo and cpu and drives and ram!!!!!!!
Not to mention the fire hazard

The funny thing is I didn't see any smoke before I turned if off. Just that foul odor. I guess I'm gonna have to look into another power supply. Any suggestions would be appriciated.

So I am just the one with wierd problems. I ran the power supply all by itself for over 10 min with no problems or odors. I guess the problem is either

a. I loaded a line down with too many devices
b. Dust got into a place it was not suppose to
c. Maybe it only acts up when load on it.

I guess I'm gonna have to put it back in the computer and hope it was a or b.
