After spilling Pepsi all over my printer and not realizing it actually got on the printer (thought it was just on the desk), I thought my printer was totally screwed up. But, after spending an hour wiping it off of everything on the printer, it prints black just fine.
It didn't have a color cartridge in it at the time. Since cleaning it, I tried the last half of a cartridge I had laying around and it printed gaps in the colors. Then, I bought a remanufactured color cartridge and it doesn't print yellow at all and there are small gaps in the blue and pink ink.
Should I buy a brand-new color cartridge (and possibly waste $35) or should I just assume the printer is totally shot.
It seems that the print heads are on the cartridge and the problems I'm having are with the print heads. So, I'm leaning towards trying another brand new cartridge this time. Though, can anyone tell me for certain whether or not this $35 will be a total waste?
The printer is an HP P1000. I've tried recalibrating it multiple times.. and I've done all three of the cleaning cycles. I would rather not have to buy a new printer just for photos (already have a laser printer) and I want to know if maybe there's something else I can do to clean it.
