Is my old PSU dead?

I recently switched my PSU from an OCZ 600w (OCZ600SXS) to an OCZ 850w PSU because i was having some random issues with my pc that I thought were probably due to the power supply.

The issue I was having was that sometimes my peripherals, such as hard drives, randomly wouldn't show up in windows (or even on boot up, the computer didn't see my primary drive) or devices plugged into my front usb ports would not connect as if they were never plugged in.

This is a computer I've had for maybe 3 or 4 years. whereas it only started with 1 dvd drive and 1 64gb ssd drive, I'm now up to having the ssd drive along with a WD 500g black drive, a WD 2tb green drive, and added a blu-ray drive.

The computer itself has a phenom x4 945, 4gb of ram, a radeon HD4870 512mb ddr5, and auzentech sound card. Also i do connect a multitude of USB peripherals like keyboard, mouse, webcam, 2tb external drive, printer, ipod, ereader and cell phone.

So i'm trying to find out if the 600w PSU i replaced just couldn't handle all the new hardware i was slowly adding or if it was starting to fail or dying. I haven't has any issues at all since changing power supply. i would like to sell the old PSU but just don't want to sell someone a faulty unit.
