Is my old CRT dying

OK,

I have a system running NV twin view on Fedora64. One of which is a Dell 1704 FTP, the other is an old NEC multisync FP950, 19".

There used to be a faint humming sound in the background, and the that sound has been getting louder and louder in the recent weeks.

Plus, when the monitor is awoken by VGA, it would sound out a pretty substantial popping noise, which I guess would be degaussing; but it didn't used to be this loud.

And on top of that, every time I turn it off, the screen has flashes in patterns of lightning over it for a few seconds. This is espeically marked when the lighting in the room is low.

So the question is, is my old faithful 19" CRT dying a slow death? Is there anything I can do to help it?? Or should I be saving up and preparing for a new buy???

I'm smelling an upgrade ! (since you can afford the other stuff in your system list by the looks of it )
