Is my old box screwed?

I had a linux box setup a while ago. It was a P100, with a AT powersupply. I ran it 24/7 then the power supply started smelling real bad (emitting ozone type smell). So i replaced it. It seemed to work fine, but I can't remember if it booted into linux or not. Then i got the bright idea to change the P100 (Socket 7) to a P166 i had lying around, without flashing the BIOS. Now I dont know where the P100 chip is, and the computer hangs during POST. I dont know the motherboard name/manufactuer either, but it is using what appears to be VIA chipset...its long and rectangular(??) The #s on that chip are VT824C42N. It is using an Award BIOS. There are a few Intel chips on the board, Intel PCIset, and some other small tiny chips on the board. LMK if you have any ideas.

Thanks
