Is my new monitor going back?

Preface: Outside of my wife's laptop this is my first experience with an LCD.

Ok so I just got this bad boy yesterday and man was it awesome for the first 10 minutes. After that the fun began. It has 1 stuck pixel which is viewable when the screen is black (the pixel is blue) but I've heard of a pretty successful program that throws light at this guy and will hopefully bring him to life.

Anyway here's the problem. I had to take pictures of it because there is no explaining this.

The monitor is the SyncMaster 205BW and i dont even know what to search for in finding whats going on with this one. The first time it did this was durring playing World of Warcraft yesterday after about an hour of having the monitor but now it does it when im just browsing the internet as well...

Also a problem I have (which I had with my old monitor) is it turning on and off, on and off. Like on the crt it would look to get stuck in constant degaus mode. I figured the monitor was going bad but now this LCD does it as well (at least it did today.) It turned on and off on and off (just the display not the whole monitor.) So it goes black and then comes back etc.

But heres the problem with this monitor (the main one) or is it my pc:

It just spases out like this for about 6 seconds flickering between all of these and then stops. Then it will do it again. I have no idea whats going on.

Looks like a gfx card problem to me

As per the monitor you have decide if 1 stuck pixel is worth it to you. You can try rubbing the pixel gently as that sometimes helps too.

That sounds like a video card problem to me. Next time it starts getting distorted, try opening the monitor's config menu, if this is distorted too, then it's your monitor, otherwise, you may need to replace your video card. If you don't already have them, install the newest drivers on your computer.

Well the monitor officially died (the LCD.) I called samsung and their sending out a new one to UPS where I exchange my current one. When the power was on and the DVI cable was unplugged there was no OSD at all so they officially stated it as dead. The power button still flashed but its dead.

So now I'm using my old 19" CRT. With this monitor everything is fine except every now and then it will do the "seems like its constant degaus" for about 30 seconds and then it will stop. It doesn't do the white distortion as listed above.

But what do I need to do? I've never had problems with my 6800GT, it still runs everything fine the temp is cool, and I have the drivers of the nvidia website from 3 days ago.

What do I need to do to make sure that I am not the cause of the killing of the LCD. Because I don't want to kill the next one if it is the case that my video card killed it. It doesn't really make since being as this CRT has stayed strong other than the fact that it would do the degaus flicker crap every once and a while...

are you sure that there's nothing wrong with the power socket you're plugging the monitor into? you may want to try an APC or surge protector, a different socket (in a different house!) to see if maybe there's something wrong with the power going to your monitors.

otherwise, it may well be your video card. try the monitors out on a diff computer (e.g, hooked up to your wife's laptop) and see if it has the same issue. if not, then it is related to your computer.

Well my monitor is always plugged in through the surge protector. Anyway today I reformated and am using the NGO drivers for my video card and so far even on the CRT I haven't had it do the stupid degaus nonstop crap. It's been pretty nice. If it keeps this up for a week (it'll take a week for my new monitor to get here) then maybe the reformat solved the problem *shrugs*
