Is my new board toast???

Just got my hands on a giga-byte 7DXR+ this afternoon. Hooked everything up, turned on the power and get absolutely nothing. No Beep, no video, no nothing. All that happens is the fans spin. The monitor doesn't even come out of sleep mode. I unhooked the hard drive, the video card, the floppy, and switched slots for the RAM. Turned it on just to see if it would beep or something.....nothing....

Bad BIOS perhaps? Any ideas?

The hardware is:

350watt Enermax supply
Maxtor D740X 20GB hard
256MB Crucial DDR PC2100
TNT2 video card
750mhz Duron

The FSB was set to 100mhz and the multiplier on auto.....

Everything but the memory and motherboard (just ordered them) has been used in another working system....

Any help is greatly appreciated....

Classic symptoms of motherboard shorted to the case. Try loosening up the screws holding down the motherboard a little. If that doesn't work take the board out of the case and power it up on a table. If it works on a table but not in the system, try mounting the motherboard with fiber or nylon washers between the motherboard and the screwheads. Better yet, buy some 6-32x1/4" nylon screws from Digikey and mount the mobo with them.

Sorry if a bit OT, but since bwass24 doesn't have PM's enabled I wanted to ask a question. Can you give a link to the screws you menitoned on that site? Do they also sell the fiber washers? Just curious.
As to the problem at hand, I aggree that you should try to boot outside the case first. Also, make sure the HSF is plugged into the proper header on the MB and is installed correctly.
