Is my Motherboard DOA?

The Mailman

I made another thread but you guys didn't find it too interesting so heres a new question straight up.

I took out the motherboard (previous issues were no post, no bios beeps, but power worked and fans spun) and placed it on a cardboard box. Plugged in the PSU, plugged in a tiny speaker that I pulled from one of my working computers. LED on the mobo is on. I turn it on...

No bios beeps.

No cpu or ram or anything installed, should there not be an error beep upon power on? Does this confirm the mobo is DOA? Is there any further troubleshooting I can do?

Mailman,

I've never tested a mobo without anything on it like you did, so I'm not sure if that's a good test. I also install the CPU, heat sink, a video card and one stick of RAM as well, then turn it on to see whether you get any beeps. Don't forget to hook up all the necessary power leads. You should get one beep that tells you it's posting. Then you know you have a good (or not good) mobo. If it's good, then add another stick of RAM and try again. Then add one additionl component at a time until it won't post anymore. That last component is the bad component that stopped you from posting before.

Good luck, Noel

You should have the the CPU in. I don't think you need the video card or ram for MB beeps, but I would at least include ram.
