Is my Motherboard Defective?

Just purchased a gigabyte board (GA-P55M-UD2) and put together a new system. The hard drive from my previous system had Windows 7 installed and when I swapped my old board and cpu with my new hardware, the OS loaded fine but I noticed that the single beep that indicates a successful boot did not go off. Now every time I boot my computer, the single beep does not go off, however, everything else works as it should. Is this a bad thing? I installed the x64 version of Windows 7 over the preexisting one; maybe that had something to do with it? Any thoughts? thanks.

May as well do a fresh install anyways. With "bit rot" taking place as it is, installing over any OS is guarenteed to speed this up. ALWAYS do a fresh install before ruling out a hardware defect.

Sounds like a possible fix.I'll comment back if a true fresh install works. Thanks
