Ok, I recently RMA'd a power supply and was confident that it was the problem.
I recently installed an IDE hard drive. However, I am not familiar with IDE (I used SATA in my build) and do not know if the tape was set to master or slave. It stilled worked, mind you. But soon after, the computer stopped working.
I tried to diagnose and came up with the conclusion that the power supply was dead.
The yellow light on the back was blinking.
Power cycling (replug PSU) didn't work
Power from the outlet was good (electrocuted on it)
Tried multiple cables
Removed all connections except CPU fan, 24-pin, and 4-pin CPU.
Tried shifting voltage switch (passive PFC) and flicking power switch.
And I got nothing. Nothing. Not even the case fans would spin when I hit the power.
Now, with my RMA'd PSU, I get nothing. The only difference is my cabling job, the absence of the IDE drive, and the fact the light is now solid instead of blinking.
I am thinking that one of two things is the problem:
1) Case power button hookups are dead.
2) Problem with motherboard? It's a GA-P35-DS3L.
I have no standoffs on my motherboard, but this was never a problem before.
My motherboard is slightly warped. Whenever I reinstall my 8800GT, I need to unscrew the three screws on the right side so that I can bend the motherboard so the card fits into the screwless bracket, otherwise it bends over (could rip the slot out of the board)
I am thinking I may have fried the board with the IDE drive?
Alternatively, I will try clearing the CMOS, I'm not sure if the battery is dead.
HELP.
