Is my monitor dying?

I've had a Viewsonic PF790 for about two years now... great monitor. Anyway recently I've been having a few problems with it recently, including:

1) If I change to any refresh rate but 100 hz, the two sides of the screen look compressed, while the middle is all stretched out. For some reason this doesn't happen on 100 hz.

2) I've recently developed a spot in the upper right hand corner where the colors are a bit washed out. It's not really noticable except that in Windows XP the "close program" icon is red. 🙂

I've also changed video cards in the midst of these problems which did absolutely nothing to help (GF2 to GF4), so it looks to me like a monitor problem. How long will it last I wonder?
 
No way to tell. Could go one more day, could go another year or better. I had a refurb Sylvania. The color started acting up after 18 months. I gave the monitor to a friend expecting it to die pretty soon, and it is still going after 11 months.
