Is my monitor dead?

I have a NEC 17" LCD.

Last night, I had my computer on while I moved my desk and the cable fell out of the monitor-- I didn't have it screwed in. It didn't pull out; it more of just dropped out.

I plugged it back in, and now the screen has a blue haze on it and the text looks smeared.

I just replaced the cable, and it's the same.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Check the LCD on another computer.

The only time I'v ever seen an LCD fail here at work was when a power transformer stopped working. Luckily, it was an external transformer, so easily replaced.

Is it a DVI or analog connection?

It's analog.

I tried resetting the monitor, but it's not working. It's definitley plugged in.

🙁

This weekend I'm going to have another monitor to test with my box.

Sad to see this monitor go-- if it is busted.

It sounds like a color connection might be missing (the blue haze). Check your VGA cable for any bent pins. The pin out is:

1 Red Video
2 Green Video
3 Blue Video
4 Reserved
5 Ground
6 Red Ground
7 Green Ground
8 Blue Ground
9 No Connect
10 Ground
11 ID0 (Ground)
12 ID1 (No Connect)
13 Horizontal Sync
14 Vertical Sync
15 No Connect

If you ca, just try using another VGA cable as well.
