my computer seems to randomly just shut down, and when it reboots it does not find any of the IDE drives. To fix this problem I have to unplug any one of the IDE devices reboot, when it finds them turn off the computer plug it back in and then it runs again fine for a while. I use my computer now mostly just to surf the net, so I don't know how valid my point is that this usually happens when AOL and IE are open. However it also happened before AOL was installed on my system. I am running Win XP Pro, full edition. I have an Abit KT7 Raid Mobo. Is the board messed up, are my IDE channels or cables screwy, is it XP that causes this?? It really gets annoying so if I could get any help I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance for any help.

random shut downs sound like a dying psu to me, although that not recognizing drives in xp is something I get from time to time, I just have to reboot tho...

Well I am using a 300w power supply, powering 2 hd's, 2 cd roms, and a couple fans. That should be enough, right? However I am adding 2 more HD's to my system real soon, will I be running out of power?

As for the not finding the ide channeles.... They are not found in the boot-up. Would downloading the newest bios settings help at all?
