Last week I had this problem where my keyboard would only register alternate keypresses for some keys (e.g. when I press . it would only register as > ) and most of the time it wouldn't do capitals at all, even when the Shift key or the Caps Lock key was down. This was annoying, and I thought I'd have to replace the keyboard, but a computer restart fixed the issue.
Just today, though, it's started playing up again. It won't register Backspace, so I have to use Delete for everything, and it won't register multiple keypresses - like just now, with 'keypresses', I had to wait around 2 seconds without doing anything to type the second s.
Another restart will probably fix the issue again, but I have some work that I need to finish at the moment, and I don't want to have to keep having to put up with weird and annoying distractions from my keyboard in the future. Is this something I can do something about, or will I need a new keyboard?
I use a Microsoft Ergonomic 4000 keyboard, which I bought around 3 years ago.
Also, when I type something on the keyboard, Windows makes this weird clicking sound through the speakers. But only when the keypress registers.
