Is my insurance company behind this?

OK, went to the eye doctor that they told me to go to (dont really have a choice, free exam, free glasses/contacts). Anyway, i have always had 2 differant perscriptions for each eye, my left is weaker than my right. During the exam she said that i would need a stronger perscription for my left. No big deal.

But they order my contacts and i come to get them. The nurse is asked to mark on the box which one is left and which one is right. She says they are both the same. So, she is informed that for all my life they have never been the same and that the doctor said otherwise when i visited her a few weeks ago. She then said, they are the same, they have always have been the same. (/having flashbacks to 1984). So, she checks again and said, yes, your prescriptions for both eyes increased slightly, but both your eyes are the same prescription and they have always been the same.

Being that i was parked in a handicaped spot (and the cops patrol the area well), i did not have much time to argue. Her clinic is over 40 minutes away from my house. Is my insurance company behind this? Is it cheaper to just order one type of perscription?

EDIT: i should add that i have only been to this place for the past year

Umm I don't see how it is cheaper to order two of the same prescription really. You should have spoken up more instead of taking it up the rear. Grow a spine.

You parked in a handicapped space. You deserve all the problems. :)

The question is - can you see well out of the contacts as prescribed?
