Well I installed installed a fresh copy of Windows XP on my extra 250gig Sata HDD I had laying around. I originally was using a 120GB IDE drive for windows.
Now they 250GB HDD is fine in windows and what not, but when playing games, specifically L4D, the game will sometimes pause for several seconds and have a sound loop but it will then go to where it should be as though it is skipping.
I was wondering if this is grounds for RMAing the HDD? It is a Maxtor Hard Drive with 2 years of warranty left so I am protected for a while yet.
I tried to defragment the drive as well as reinstall windows but nothing has changed. I validated my L4D files via steam but no go.
