Is my hard disk too old?

I thought I had a pretty decent computer but I run into just a little tiny bit of slowness here and there, like when playing Counter Strike.

I think it's the hard disk because it's the only really old thing in the computer. Everything else is in the mid range or so.

Here is everything in the computer:

MSI K8N Neo4-F Nforce4
AMD 3500+ Venice at 2.2 Ghz
1 GB memory in dual mode
eVGA Geforce 6800 256 MB memory
Antec Truepower II PSU

the hard disk seems to be the culprit as it is probably getting kinda old. Should I replace it? It is a Maxtor 54610H6 DiamondMax Plus 45

huh? you really need to elaborate.. and start running some benchmarks.

i assume you're using XP.. try making a new user profile so you have a fresh user registry and no other user processes in the bg.

Whats slow, FPS? Load times? Internet play?

Your system should be sufficient for both CS and CS:S

Check the services and close your extra programs while playing (ie A/V, firewall, other softwares).
