Is my game freezing up because my cpu is just over it's limit?

I don't believe it was overheating, and my memory tests out. It's running at 3003mHz and stock is 2200mHz. I'm giving all the voltage I can which is 1.575-1.6 on CPUZ. Any suggestions or clever ideas? I want to race @ 3 g's.

run a stress test on the CPU and see what happens. If it passes, it's likely something else such as your GPU.

5 minutes 1 error @ 2915mHz and 1.5v....I'll try 2850ish mHz

If it's not stable at that voltage for even 5 minutes, lowering it by only 50 MHz probably won't be stable, either. Try to back it down to 2700 or so, and then work your way back up until it is prime-stable for at least a few hours.

EDIT: Oh, and that voltage seems way too high. OCing from 2.2 GHz to 3 GHz is unrealistic for an Athlon64; that's over a 35% overclock. No offense, but you really don't seem to know what you're doing, and you'll probably end up frying that chip if you aren't careful. You're running a CPU rated at 1.35v-1.4v vcore at ~1.6v, at a 35% overclock, and if I had to guess, I'd say you're on air cooling. Not good, my friend...

Yup...it's a good overclocker. I already bought an Opteron 170, but it was a CCBWE, and it was suppose to be CCB1E so I sent it back to exchange it. I'm just playing with this 3700 for a week or 2. I'm trying to learn along the way. I've read and read, but I like trial and error. I'm far from an expert, but I know what I'm doing. I'm on super air cooling............it's a little different now because I swapped out my AV8 for this K8N Neo2 Platinum. Everything is intake except the very top.:sneaky:

A bunch of extra fans and an AC Freezer (IMHO) is far from "super air cooling" IMHO.

I have to agree. Looks like an extremely loud box without actually... doing anything. Besides cooking a CPU that's running a 35% overclock over it's rated voltage, at any rate.

Actually the fans work pretty damm good. And it's stable @ 2860mHz w/1.5v and it didn't break 50c while testing. Yes you can hear the fans if your not listening to any other audio anything, but it really doesn't bother me. Have a nice night gentlemen.:p

I gotta say, if it's actually stable, I'm somewhat surprised. I certainly wouldn't run it 24/7 at that voltage, but that's just me. If it starts crashing in the future while playing games, then at least you'll know why.

At any rate, you will get better airflow and therefore better cooling with a push/pull configuration (one side fan intake, one exhaust) rather than setting them all to intake, with an exhaust at the top. You want to get the hot air out, not just bring in outside air, and the idea is to have close to equal amounts of hot air exiting the case and cool air coming in.

By "stable" you mean it passed (at most) an hour or two of p95?

Although I will admit I am a little surprised it managed to stay down at 50C for even 15 minutes of stability testing.

I cant imagine 1.5v is bad for that ancient processor. My Windsor has been running @ 1.6 for years @ 3.45ghz in my friends computer and we actually swapped in a different stock heatsink without reapplying the TIM to it lol

Hah, that is ghettotastic! :D

Why not go full on ghetto?

Open the case side & have a housefan blasting on it.

/i've done that before :hmm:

I fell asleep for 5 hours  and trust me.....the air is flowing superbly, and hot air rises, and the exhaust fans are heavy duty & run on A/C.EDIT...plus my cpu cooler blows UP on this MSI Neo2. The cpu socket is turned 90 degrees from what it was on my AV8, so I should probably get a different kind of cooler. Although it all fits, the back of the fan is resting on one of the screws that hold the cooler on my video card.
