He's trying to sell me his old inspiron laptop. The condition of the body looks clean to me and he told me the LCD was just replaced and has no dead pixels ( I didn't see any when I looked at it) He said the warranty should be transferable (Dell warranty?)

It's a pentium 3 1 ghz
512 meg of memory
Geforce 2 go
40 gig hdd
extra battery
built in modem and ethernet
floppy drive
windows xp home with office small business
he's throwing in his linksys PCMCIA wireless card (802.11g don't know what model)

He said the warranty has about 570 days left on it. He just renewed it last March and got 2 years.
He's selling it for $500. Am I getting a good deal or should I pass? It's strong enough for my wife's needs (just word processing and internet access) She's not going to game on it.

see what else you can get from dell or fs/ft. seems like a pretty good deal, but it is a used laptop. who know's when something will go wrong

I know what you mean. He said he'll give me 30 days to play around with it and if I have any problems, I can give it back.

with a 2 year warranty honestly, I would pay it. I have 2 identical laptops spec wise, neither have any warranty left and I would imagine they would sell for $350 ish, so $150 means no worries for 2 more yeas = :D

It's not a bad deal ONLY because of the warranty, w/o it tho, it would be a rip off.

That's a rip. Warranty or not, I'd give no more than $400. Personally i'd watch for a Dell deal and get a 600 or 700m. They are lighter, faster, and get better battery life.

If you can stand the rebates, new laptops are $500 every weekend at the major office stores.

Dell had 700Ms and 6000s for $650 last week as well. Those had Pentium Ms.

Sounds like someone isn't familiar with FS/T. :p

I've bought two laptops from FS/T..they're both working fine..

$500 seems a little pricey, though..as others have said, you can get a new one for about the same price.
