walmart sells generic allergy medication 100 for $4

my friend polished pff a bottle in a week. i was with him when he bought it, and saw the bottle in the garbage a week later.

i asked him if he finished all 100 pills in a week. he said he had really bad allergies. (he has no insurance.)

from this thread about addition:

i'm wondering if he's abusing allergy medication?

is there a gain/high from it?

How do you abuse allergy medicine? It's not like it makes you high or anything, at least AFAIK.. and if it does.. wal-mart you say? :p

I've heard of people using it as a very mild sleeping pill.

It seems like there would be a bad side affect taking 14/day though. At the very least, a resistance might be created.

I don't think you cna take that much of any kind of pill. Even vitamins will give you problems.

Well, I imagine that's why he's up to 15/day.. But that's kinda insane. I would be a little worried.

But at the same time, I also advocate to mind your own business.. lol

It's always a tricky situation. Getting involved would depend on known addiction problems, how much of a friend he is, etc. I had a friend who had just discovered quaaludes and after a couple of weeks I sat him down and described how others saw him (sloppy, etc). He quit immediately.

If it's something similar to benadryl that he's probably not addicted. He might be taking it for the hallucinatory effects. The active ingredient in benadryl when taken in excessive quantities will cause hallucinations.

i've never felt a high from alergy meds. perhaps he just thinks he gets "more effect" from a bigger dose. but thats not really how some meds work. worse some meds build up to toxic levels, a few are good, a few more not good at all. michael jackson found this out....
i've nver seen alergy med that required more than one per day, the good stuff claims to last an entire day after all. the cheaper stuff makes you sleepy, and thats not good at all. and not a positive feeling effect at the very least. at the least hes wasting money, at worst its building up totoxic levels and f*cking over something like his liver.

yes you can get high off of diphenhydramine (the active ingredient of Benadryl). Though, don't tell your legal stoner buddy, but he's doing it all wrong. :p

Benadryl has 25mg of diphenhydramine, while Unisom, the sleep aid, is 50mg. Benadryl at does of 50mg or more tend to start helping you get drowsy real easy.

Take 200mg+ of that stuff, and you get quite a strange high. It's like an uber drunk without some the effects of being drunk. The stumbling and disorientation are the biggest things that hit on a diphenhydramine high, and things are really funny. Also, some hallucinations can occur at high doses, auditory hallucinations the most common.

Somehow, my buddy when he had some seriously crazy allergies was taking like 200mg (8 benadryl pills) at least twice or three times a day, and either he was hiding the fact that it was making him feel weird (but he wasn't disoriented at all, but he is a bigger guy... we were doing a bunch of shit camping and he was completely normal), or all it was doing was helping him feel normal and reduce the allergy symptoms.

So maybe if you do have some hardcore allergies, high doses won't do anything other than help with the allergy symptoms. But if you don't have allergy symptoms, high doses will make you very very loopy.

:) The cleanest drunk available. This was the 70s. Unfortunately, the endgame with ludes is usually unpleasant.

The cheap stuff doesn't have the ingredients that counter-act the sleep inducing part. You also need to have a fairly strong heart to take the good stuff (prescription) - it's like taking a downer and an upper simultaneously.
