Is my Epox 8K7A motherboard dead?

Hi guys!
As I was putting Alpha 8045 heatsink on my motherboard, I forgot to put the plastic circles underneath the screws and I think I might have scratched it and destroyed it. When I turn it on, all the fans come on, but there is nothing on the screen. My motherboard shows FF, nothing else. I think this means that it's really dead as it should go through some other numbers before showing FF which means that it's finally booting into Windows... If it's dead, I already bought Soltek KT266A motherboard, but now Alpha won't fit on it, so I guess I'll have to sell it. If it's not dead, I guess I'll keep it (it worked fine before, I was using it for about fourth months).

did you follow the direction that came with the 8045 when screwing the HS to the motherboard? If you don't do it right you can damage the CPU core. Also, the plastic spacers and plastics nut play two roles, 1) give the correct height on the 4 anchor bolts and 2) to protect against shorting something out.

EDIT: check out PAL8045 Info

OK, thanks. This was the third or fourth time installing it, so I didn't follow the directions and because of that, I forgot to use the plastic spacers... 🙁 I think number 2 happened to me and something shorted out. I got this motherboard from Newegg, but don't have an invoice anymore. Do you think I could still get a warranty from Epox because I bought it less than one year ago?
