Is my engine about to blow up?

2007 Pacifica

Since last year is has had a knocking in the engine. Today it died and when I started it(had to boost it) it is making a horrible sound like parts are just flying around but it will idle and drive. I parked it and haven't started it since. I don't have any oil leaking or a mess under my hood.

You're fine. You just need to change your oil to this...

From what you describe it could be anything, spun main bearing, broken rocker arm, timing chain/belt issue, snapped con rod.

I would drain the oil and check for cunks of metal for a start and go from there.

The Pacifica isn't a bad vehicle at all. But unless the car is a $500 beater that you expect to blow up and don't care when it does, then yeah, check the problem before it becomes a really huge and expensive problem.
