1) What I would like to know is what stepping should I be hoping to get?
2) Which stepping overclocks best?
3) What is the real difference between steppings?
The B2 steppings are the ones to get as they are the Conroes and tend to overclock better. L2 is the Allendale and tend to be hit or miss with more misses than hits when it comes to overclocking.
Here is a link that shows the various s-specs and steppings. Intel LINK Again, B2 is Conroe and L2 is Allendale.
Mines a B2 I found this thing on hardforum, the most common overclock with this week is 3.5Ghz, this is like the great week for other processors all great E6600 ocers are L629 http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1138241
