For some reason my new LG 4167B seems to have trouble reading DVD's reliably. When I throw some discs in, it will sort of half wind up, then continuously do this half winding up over and over again never achieving a full fledged spin like it should, so it doesn't read. While it is doing this, the green LED is blinking about once every half second.
I can correct the problem by ejecting the tray and putting the disc back in repeatedly until I get a full fledged spin, but I shouldn't need to do that. When it is working properly, it seems fine though. Play Civ4 just fine, burned a few DVD's fine.
So the hardware situation.
LG 4167B (on Firmware DL11. I can't seem to update to DL12. the Auto Updater Program software I received keeps crashing when I use it. Says "Out of Memory, Error 7", I have not yet attempted to update to DL12 the manual way yet)
It is the only optical drive in my system currently. Connected to IDE 0 (Master). Jumper is set to Master too. I'm using a SATA HDD btw. I previously had a CD-RW drive which worked flawlessly set up the same way.
In "My Computer", it reads as a DVD-RAM drive, dunno if that means anything.
Any suggestions or recommendations for me?
