When I take a dvd out of my BTC 8x? DVD-ROM drive, the dvd looks like it has alot of smudges on it and some scratches. I had that one of my dvds and I thought I just mishandled it since its old and I put it back and when I opened it up again, those smudge like marks were gone...could it be possibly moisture or from the heat? I know i didnt cause it with my hands because I took a new dvd out of my drive which I left in there for a week or so and it had all these weird smudges and dust and minor scratches on it. Has anyone heard of this before? What can I do short of replacing my dvd-rom drive...its a POS no name brand i got for free from my friend.

I have a Aopen slot-loading 16x DVD-ROM that has scratched one cd to hell. However, I was able to hear it scratching the disk.. I dunno if there are lots of scratches on your DVD or not, but you'll definately here some scratching sounds if there are alot of them.

i never had a dvd drive that did that before but some of my friends have. Just switch a dvd drive if you have the money. You can get some for pretty good prices.
