---------- Xiety says -----------

I am still using my 4 year old DVD player that I got from Walmart... it`s an Apex... its skipping more and more movies every other day... I am guessing it's time for it to retire? Of course this is if DVD players start skipping after a certain time?

Anyways, I am looking for something not too expensive... under $100 but I want it to be some quality brand like maybe Pioneer? I don't know, not something like Apex. So any recommendations? And what should I look for in it?

Thanks.

Cool, what advantage do progressive scan DVD players have over the regular ones?
It will be of no benefit unless you have the TV to utilize what the progressive player can provide. If you're looking for a DVD player to play movies on a regular TV, get the the most affordable one. If progressive scan is included, don't worry about it. It's just a feature that will go unused.

i bought a $150 very nice panasonic DVD player just over 17 months ago, last month, it just crapped out on me, ok, it didn't just crap out, i had the comcast digital box on top of it and something went bad, no when you put a dvd in it won't spin.

grrr, so i went out and bought a $43 (after sales tax) walmart Apex DVD player. how much you wanna bet this one lasts longer than the panasonic. ;)
