Is my DVD Burner dead?

Ok I bought a BenQ DW1655 in July. I installed it and its worked fine since then. I have probably burnt 300 or 400 DVDs in the time I have had it and probably 100 CDs. I have also done 4 Lightscribes, 2 per disc. Recently it just quit letting me burn DVDs I tried Nero and ConvertXtoDVD. Neither worked. I can still do lightscribe but nothing else. Is there any way to check and see if my drive is dead or what should I do?

it could also be a power issue. check the drive in another computer, see if it works.
