Is my Duron 600mhz worth upgrading to a 1.2ghz T-Bird? Everything else will be that same, jsut the CPU that I would change. How much of a difference would I see in say games (got a asus v6600/geforce 256), and average applications/boot time/load time of programs.

Should I hold off save some money and just upgrade my whole system in say a year?

Why not try overclocking your Duron first? It might not give you that great of a performance boost (depending on what types of games you play etc.) but you could give it a try before spending more money. :)

Sigh.

I did have my duron overclocked once, then with my attempted to put a 60mm to 80mm fan converter on I chipped one of her corners, now she doesn't overclock for me any more :(

Used to have it at 1ghz.

It's twice as fast (in mhz) - so you should see a CONSIDERABLE gain! :)

T-bird 1.2G worth the upgrade? Yes, if your board supports it already then it is a great value.

If you hold off til next year, you'll need alot more $$ to upgrade.
-DDR will need to be purchased-(who knows what prices wil be next year)
-Motherboard
-CPU
-Possibly new Power Supply to run the new power hog.

I would go the 1.2G upgrade route.

Thanks guys, I'll go ahead with the upgrade.

The Abit KT7 does support T-bird 1.2ghz 200fsb right?

Yeah go for the upgrade. As you used to have your Duron at 1 GHz you now know that just a faster chip will yield a faster system, so its worth it I think.
