Is my drive toast?

I've got a WD 1.5tb Green drive as a secondary media drive. Lately my system has been slowing down and I see that it's the drive going into PIO mode. Every time I try to fix it (either by uninstalling/reinstalling via the device manager or using regedit) it will almost immediately default back to PIO mode.

I've used HD Tune and it says the health of the drive is fine. However, the benchmarks show that it is transferring at a rate of 3MB/sec.

Any suggestions?

That happened to my WD Green 500gb. Took about 6 months, drive started getting VERY slow, developed bad sectors in spots. You should back up the data and RMA it.

I got this after running that WD test topdog recommended:

Read SMART Attribute command error on drive 2!

Edit:

I'm running XP service pack 3.
