Is my CRT dying?

Today my CRT's image has been twitchy. Its kind of hard to explain, but the image rapidly twitches horizontally. I've had this problem before, but it went away after awhile. Is this a sign my CRT is on its last leg? I've had it for a little over a year and a half.

Mine has been changing colors. Mostly a blue/green color. If i move the part that hooked into my video card it fixes it. I've ruled out my video card because this happend last year too when I had my old video card. I thought it was just because it was cold because it started up once it got cold.

Once it starts changing colors, you can't rely on it anymore. It's still usable of course, but why use a monitor that changes colors?

well once I move the adapter in the back in changes back and is usualy fine. I plan on getting a new one but gotta keep this one for a while.

Just to be safe, you might want to check the power feed coming into your room. If you have like 10 power strips on a 120v outlet, then youre in trouble.

Sounds like your vid card does not stay seated well. I've had a problem a year ago where periodically my screen would have a pink hue. I finally figured out that it was the video cable and ordered a new one.

Sorry JediJorgie, didn't mean to hijack your thread. But in response to bigboxes, I had the same problem with my old video card as well which is why I assume its the monitor, either than or the APG slot on the mother board.

No prob JE. I've noticed the twitching has decreased since I've posted, but I'm still worried its a sign its almost done.

first thing to check is that monitor is not near PC Case or speaker magnets - move it far away
next thing is to unplug refridge or air conditioner for a while to see if that helps
could also try a degauss

My computer has been on for about 20 minutes and so far there's been no twitching. My case is on the floor next to my desk and my speakers are magnetically shielded (I think). No air conditioner in my apartment (nor a need for one now) and there is no fridge on my room's circuit (not sure if it being in the kitchen would still affect my monitor). I tried degauss a couple times when it was doing it last night, didn't help at all.
