Is my computer dying or something. I just installed 512 MB DDR PC 2700of RAM to my:

Gateway Series 500
Penitum 4 2.00 ghz
Intel Pendleton D845PT Motherboard
256 MB PC 2100 Ram
The computer worked fine it was just running a little slow so I added some more RAM. It worked fine for a couple of hours after I put in the RAM and then all of a sudden my computer just shut down and would start finally 10 minutes later it started. Almost an hour later the same thing happened. Can anyone tell me what the problem is?

Try running Memtest86 on it - It could be that the new RAM is bad or something.

Have you scanned your system regularly for viruses and spyware, using programs with up-to-date definitions?

Have you tried running it with only the new stick installed? If the crashes are happening hourly then it shouldn't take long to ascertain whether the new memory is causing it.
