Is my computer overclockable?

I have a 1000 AMD athlon with a K7V ACPI MB and each time I try to adjust the CPU frequency (like 100mhz to 110mhz), the computer doesn't boot up unless I turn it on and off for like 20 time (the BIOs says its a system hang or something like that). I know you need to bridge the L1 bridges to overclock it but its a slot 1 CPU and I can't find the L1 bridges unless I crack open the cover of the processor (which I don't wanna do). Also, is FSB the same as CPU frequency? Are slot 1 CPUs overclockable?

thanks for any help

it probably just cant handle the 110 fsb, try 105 and go up one mhz at a time, doing stability tests in between each OC, also it is a slot a, i think to OC it you need a GFD, the penciling the bridges is on socket a tbirds/durons only i think, but ive never had a slot a, there might be some other way to unlock it, slot a cpus are overclockable

hmmmm...thats pretty sad that my MB can't handle 110 FSB (I have pc133 memory) I got an ASUS K7V, I thought ASUS was supposed to be good!! I tried 101, and it still did the same thing except alot less tries to get the computer to start back up (like 5 times)

I am new to this OC scene, so...all in all, if I can't go up to 110 mhz...its not worth overclocking then right?

are slot A's overclockable by default?

Slot A cpus don't overclock well. I have tried the "Golden fingers" device, and was disappointed with the results. I cracked open the case carefully, but I don't recommend it.

U need a golden fingered devise which sits on top of some pins once u open up the processor. There was an excellent guide somewher, maybe at www.overclockers.com or somewhere like that. However, its tricky, but u may get some good results. Also I cant find a GFD anywhere any more.
