Is my cell phone about to sh*t the bed?

Recently, I have been pulling my phone out of my pocket and finding it off - perplexing but no big deal. Today, when I turned it on and touched a key, it made a crackling noise (from the speaker) and turned off. I turned it back on and got some error message. It seems fine now, but I fear this is a slowly worsening problem...

Also, I have insurance on my plan (Verizon). Does that usually cover malfunctions or just lost/stolen phones?

I'm just curious, but who made your phone? I had a Samsung phone when I was with Sprint that was doing that as well. I bought it at Costco and was able to get a full refund. I would definately get in touch with Verizon and get a new phone though.

It was an LG.

I decided to buy a new phone. The deductible on the insurance is $50. Early upgrade phone price was $69 and I got to change my plan (which I wouldn't have thought to do otherwise) and save $20 per month.

My new LG is smaller, sleeker, black but does not have the external caller ID...

mine makes random crackling noises all the time, the stupid piece of crap.

my old one did that random turn off thing. eventually it stopped connecting for calls and i had to pitch it.

I've always gotten Motorolas that were in at least their second revision and so far I have had nothing go wrong with any phone I've had. Sure, they're less than stylish, but they work. 🙂

My Samsung A500 did that for a long time until I upgraded the firmware and it's been great since.
