I don't get it, it installs Windows fine and runs audio and other interactive CD's fine but, when I try to install a game it seems to get halfway through it and it keeps on going to the opening screen multiple times, trying to run another installation wizard!!!!:|

You can hear it making that frickin' "wee-woo" sound letting me know it's searching way too hard...WAY too much and the installs are so slow it's not even worth it!

I know this isn't the right forum for this but, I need an answer quick before I start my Christmas shopping and probably pick one up tonight before my GF finds out I'm spending money on computer sh!t !!!! Is this thing toast or what???

Sounds like you're manually running setup, and then Autorun is kicking in and starting another instance of the setup program. Try just putting the disk in and waiting a moment to see if it automatically starts running something.

Try turning DMA off, works for me with older CDROMs, especially when they have access errors / lockup probs.

Genocide...That worked!:):):) Guess when I did a clean re-install of Windows I must have skipped that step cuz it defaults with DMA on. I haven't put much thought into how outdated a Hitachi CDR-8130 really is and it's the only part left from the original build, well...out it goes anyway! Thanks a bunch man!!! :)
